You need to learn how to add things together, and this is an easy, fun way to learn! You will count pictures, and play a game with your teacher! It adds up to fun with addition!
Let's find out and have fun doing it!
When you add, you put two numbers together.
When both of the numbers are added (combined), the number you end up with is the answer to your problem.
This lesson is all about adding. Adding can help you figure out what two groups of objects or two numbers add up to when they are combined.
You know how to count from one to ten. Before you start learning to add, tell your parent or teacher how many blocks are shown below:
Great!
Count to see how many blocks there are now. Tell your parent or teacher your answer:
Fantastic! There are eight blocks in all. You just added! You started with four blocks, then you added four more!
You are just starting to learn to add, so you will only focus on counting all the objects together.
Count the chips below and share your answer with your parent or teacher:
Great job! You counted three chips.
Great!
Now you will count all the chips together below. This is called adding.
That's right! There are seven chips. You added four more chips to the three chips you already had. Now you have seven chips.
Before moving on to the next section, tell your parent or teacher how many balloons there are all together below:
Wow! You are doing a great job adding!
