The feeling of being left out or not belonging is not a good one.

• Do you think you had similar feelings as Ruby Bridges did when she was the only African American in her school?

In this second lesson on Rudy Bridges, you will look at her bravery and think about what brave things you can do to make this world a better place for others.

If you have not finished the first lesson on Ruby Bridges, you will not know about her life. You can either complete it, found under Related Lessons in the right-hand sidebar, or you can learn her story by listening to the video below. If you have finished the first lesson, you may still want to review by listening to the story a second time.

Before listening to the story, print off Listening to Ruby Bridges found in the Downloadable Resources in the right-hand sidebar. Towards the end of the story, Rudy Bridges gives you and all children a great message. Listen for the message, and when you hear it write and/or draw out the message. You can hang your paper in your room or on the refrigerator to have as a reminder of how we should treat other people.
