In the previous lesson in our Location series, found in Related Lessons in the right-hand sidebar, you learned all about things that are inside and outside.

Can you tell your parent or teacher one thing that is inside your learning space and one thing that is outside your learning space?

Great work!

In this lesson, you will learn about things that are on top, in the middle, or on the bottom.

• Any object that is on the top, is above every other object.
• Any object that is in the middle is between two objects.
• An object that is on the bottom is below all the other objects.

Take a look at the pictures below. These pictures tell you where the shelves are located in relation to each other. Ask your parent or teacher the read the labels aloud to you:

The ball is on the top shelf. The bat is on the middle shelf. The piggy bank is on the bottom shelf. Can you see where each object is?

Excellent! You will look at some pictures of things that are on top, in the middle, and on the bottom.

The person is on top of the rock.

The red bird is on top. The blue bird is in the middle. The brown bird is on the bottom.
