Do you know what a mammal is? You may have one in your home if you have a pet! You are a human one! Once you learn what a mammal is, you will draw your favorite mammals in an animal book!
If you knew that, great job! Foxes are mammals!
In this lesson, you will learn how to identify mammals.
Mammals are warm-blooded. Warm-blooded animals can regulate their body temperatures.
This means a mammal's body temperature stays the same throughout life. Mammals can be found all over the earth because they can regulate their body temperature.
Mammals are vertebrates. This means they have a backbone (spine). The picture below shows your backbone!
Animals that are mammals have backbones.
Horses are mammals, too!
Mammals have hair or fur on their body. People have hair on their heads, and animals have fur all over.
They have hair, too!
Mammals have live babies. This means mammals do not lay eggs! The only mammals that hatch from eggs are spiny anteaters and duckbilled platypuses.
Mammals feed their babies with the milk they produce.
Lots of neat information about some pretty neat animals!
