Have your teacher listen to the pattern you created above.

Now try this: Clap your hands, right hand tap the table, clap your hands, right hand tap the table, clap your hands.

Is that a pattern? Tell your teacher why you think it is or is not a pattern.

Let’s try another one: Stomp your feet, touch your nose, clap your hands, stomp your feet, touch your nose, clap your hands. Tell your teacher if you think it is a pattern or not.

How about this sequence: Clap your hands, raise your hands, tap the table, move your shoulders, tap the table, and stomp the ground. Was that a pattern? Tell your teacher what you think.

For your last one, try this sequence: Both hands tap the table, clap your hands, right hand tap the table, clap your hands, left hand tap the table, clap your hands, both hands tap the table, clap your hands. Tell your teacher if you think it is a pattern or not and why.

There are many types of patterns in our world!

Some are easy to see and some can be harder to find. There are repeating patterns and growing patterns. Let’s learn about them in this School Tube pattern video:

A repeating pattern is easy to find. Look around the room and see if you can find a repeating pattern. Maybe it is a pattern on a book, or the tile on your floor, or the cabinets in your kitchen. Point it out to your teacher.
